Norton Rose
The law firm has appointed Kate Alliott to its banking practice in London as a debt capital markets partner.
Alliott joins from legal giant Clifford Chance, where she was a partner in the capital markets group. She has wide-ranging debt capital markets and structured finance experience, with a specialist focus on project bonds and infrastructure and other utility and structured bond financings.
Hearthstone Investments
The fund and property management firm has appointed Ben Freeman and Nick Baker as non-executive directors to its board.
Freeman, ex-finance director at real estate investment manager PruPIM, has worked with a number of leading property brands over the years, including Savills and Helical Bar.
Baker is currently managing director of Adventis NMG, a subsidiary of marketing and research group Adventis.
Deloitte
The accountancy firm has appointed Nick Main as global managing partner for climate change and sustainability.
Main was previously chairman and chief executive of Deloitte New Zealand.
His new role, based in London, will involve guiding Deloitte member firms on laws and regulations regarding greenhouse gas admissions and sustainability-related issues such as “carbon accounting” and assurance, supply chain redesign, carbon risk management and strategy, renewable energy, water use and recycling.
Kinsey Allen
The search firm has appointed John O’Dwyer as head of European energy and Beverley Thomson to its asset management practice.
O’Dwyer, who has a wealth of experience in trading crude oil and gas oil options, UK and EU power, UK gas and foreign exchange with the likes of SocGen, Cinergy and Cargill, joins from DNA Search.
Thomson joins from fellow recruiter Drayton Finch, having also previously worked as an equity analyst at Investec Asset Management
Creston
The communications group has hired David Grigson as a non-executive director and chairman-elect, effective from next April.
Grigson has 25 years of experience in the media sector, having previously spent eight years as chief financial officer at Reuters, which he left in 2008 following the merger with Thomson.
Prior to that, he was finance director of Emap.
Saffron Tax Partners
Karen Spencer-Smith, who previously led a team within the Chiltern Group’s tax operations, has set up a new private client tax consultancy.
Spencer-Smith, who also worked for one of the top accountancy firms in the City, has been joined by tax professionals Bruce Lee and Vic Howard.
