Betfair
Ian Dyson, finance director of retail giant Marks and Spencer, has taken up a new non-executive directorship at the betting firm.
Dyson, who joins the Betfair board immediately, joined M&S in June 2005 as group finance director, becoming group finance and operations director in 2008.
He was also formerly finance director at the Rank Group and group financial controller at the Hilton hotel group.
Nomura
The investment banking firm has hired Ronan Clarke as head of high yield credit research for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and Karine Elias as a senior high yield analyst.
Clark has a decade of experience in high yield research, having held similar roles at UBS and more recently the Royal Bank of Scotland. Prior to that, he was an industrials analyst at JP Morgan.
Elias joins from MF Global and has also worked at RBS, UBS and Morgan Stanley. She will cover retail, consumer and gaming credits.
Mercer
Steve Smith has left Alliance Trust to join consulting and outsourcing firm Mercer as UK head of
human resources.
Smith was head of HR for Alliance Trust for the past five years, and prior to that held the group HR director role at Aberdeen Asset Management.
Bluefin Insurance Services
The insurance group has appointed Mike Bruce as its new chief development officer, effective from 1 March.
Bruce, who will be responsible for the development and implementation of Bluefin’s strategies for underwriting services, claims operations and client services, joins from Heath Lambert, where he was formerly group managing director.
Hardy Underwriting
The Lloyd’s insurance and reinsurance firm has appointed two new non-executive directors and one executive director to its board.
Fiona Luck and Anthony Taylor join as non-executives. Luck was most recently chief of staff and special adviser to the chief executive at XL Capital, while Taylor is stepping down as executive chairman of Bermuda-based reinsurer Montpelier Reinsurance, where he will remain as non-executive chairman.
In addition, Adrian Walker, currently director of underwriting for Hardy, will also join the board as an executive director after nine years with the group.
LoveFilm
The film and games delivery group has appointed Lesley Mackenzie as group digital officer in charge of all digital activity across the business.
Mackenzie was previously director of channels and operations at BSkyB for a decade, with responsibility for all television operations, management and development with third party channels on
the Sky platform.
