The law firm has appointed Barry Vitou (pictured) to its dispute resolution team. He joins the firm from the London office of US firm Winston & Strawn, where he headed its regulatory and tech practice. He will be working with Danvers Baillieu, a senior associate advising on online and tech business issues. Vitou has handled many cases on cross-border fraud and is an expert on the Bribery Act. The firm also recently hired barristers Neil McInnes and Ben Long from Bindmans and Furnival Chambers respectively.
ICAEW
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has elected Deloitte partner Martyn Jones as its next vice president. He will take office at the beginning of June and will be nominated as president in June 2013.
Jones has 30 years’ experience in chartered accounting and has spent years in leadership roles, having worked as chairman of Deloitte’s corporate governance services group, on BTTL’s global audit technical advisory board and on the CBI’s companies committee. He has also been a member of ICAEW’s council for the last four years and has sat on several of its committees.
KPMG
Matt Firla-Cuchra has been appointed as a partner in the firm’s infrastructure team in its corporate finance practice.
He joins KPMG from Oxera Consulting, an economics and finance boutique consultancy. He has been brought in to boost the firm’s utilities and infrastructure expertise in light of the government’s plans to encourage private sector investment in infrastructure.
John Lewis
The retailer has appointed Baroness Sarah Hogg and David Anderson as non-executive directors. They will take up their roles today. Lady Hogg is currently chairman of the Financial Reporting Council and a senior independent director of BG Group. David Anderson is a non-exec of NFU Mutual Insurance Society and chairman of the think tank Mutuo and of the Reclaim Fund.
