Gorkana
The PR and journalist portal has hired former Unilever board director Ralph Kugler as chairman as it ramps up its growth plans.
Kugler spent over 28 years with Unilever, including as regional president of the firm’s businesses in Europe and Latin America, and chief executive of its Thai and Malaysian units.
He is also currently a non-executive director of Intercontinental Hotels and Byotrol, as well as a senior adviser to private equity firm 3i.
Old Mutual Asset Managers
The asset management firm has appointed Simon Cowan to its UK sales team as London regional manager.
Cowan was previously a vice president at Lazard Asset Management, where he promoted the firm’s products to discretionary asset managers. Prior to that, he held sales roles at Invesco and Friends Ivory & Sime.
Charlemagne Capital
The investment management group has hired Michael Russell as its new head of private equity for the property sector.
Russell will oversee the firm’s private equity team and projects within the European Convergence Property Company, European Convergence Development Company and the BRIC property programme.
He joins from Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance, where he was a national director in the private equity team.

The boutique fund manager has hired Graeme Duncan as its new financial director.
Duncan, who will divide his time between MPL’s Hong Kong and London offices, joins from asset management group SGI-management in Hong Kong, where he was finance and operations director. Prior to that, he was a financial services audit manager at KPMG.
Gain Capital Holdings
Jane Foley has joined the forex trading services provider as research director for its website forex.com.
Foley has two decades of experience analysing financial markets, having spent 8 years at Barclays Capital as director of FX strategy. She has also held research roles at Redtower Asset Management, NSS Asset Management, Samba Asset Management and MMS International.
Kroll
The risk consulting firm has appointed Tom Hartley as regional managing director of consulting services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Hartley joins from accountancy firm KPMG in London, where he led the UK arm of the transactions services strategy group.
He has also previously worked at management consultancy firm Bain and at pharmaceuticals giant Procter & Gamble, as well as having launched his own e-commerce business.
