CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Barnett Waddingham
The actuaries and consultants firm has appointed four new partners: Alison Hamilton, Sarah Brown, Paul Houghton and Matt Tickle.
Hamilton, pictured, joined the firm in 2006 and specialises in public sector actuarial and consulting. Brown and Houghton are scheme actuaries, providing actuarial and consulting advice to employers and trustees of corporate pension schemes, while Matt Tickle advises pension schemes on investment.
Collins Stewart
The stockbroking group has appointed John Cotter as group finance director, joining the board on 23 June.
Cotter, 42, previously spent 15 years at Morgan Stanley, latterly as European head of financial, treasury and regulatory control. In 2007, he joined RBS and spent 18 months in the global capital markets division, working on the ABN Amro acquisition and integration.
CreditSights
The independent research platform has appointed Simon Ballard as head of European credit strategy.
Ballard, who will be based in London, is a veteran of the global credit markets with over 15 years of experience on both the buy and sell sides. He previously worked on strategy and portfolio management for Fortis Investments and in senior credit strategy positions at BNP Paribas in London and Bear Stearns in New York and London.
Allen & Overy
The law firm has hired Nevill Cordell and Huw Evans to its intellectual property litigation (IP) practice as partners, in a drive to expand its contentious IP offering.
Partner Nicola Dagg, who will head the group, said: “London is one of the most important centres globally for determining large, complex intellectual property disputes.”
Cordell joins from DLA Piper and Evans from Wragge & Co.
Heineken
The brewer has appointed group commerce director Stefan Orlowski as managing director of Scottish and Newcastle UK, effective from 1 July.
Orlowski, who is also a member of Heineken’s global executive committee, took up his current role in 2007. Prior to that, he was based in Australia working for Harbin, a private international investment firm. He has also previously been chief operating officer of Heineken in central and eastern Europe.
Bupa
Professor Sir John Tooke and Lawrence Churchill have joined the board of the healthcare provider as non-executive directors.
Tooke, who also becomes chairman of the firm’s medical advisory panel, is currently chairman of the Medical Schools Council and the UK Healthcare Education Advisory Committee.
Churchill was previously chief executive of Zurich Financial Services and chairman and managing director of Unum, the European arm of the world’s largest disability insurer.
