CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
FSSC
The Financial Services Skills Council has appointed Simon Ellis to lead an independent review of its future role and strategy.
Ellis joins from Fidelity’s multi-manager business, where he was a managing director. He was also previously head of UK retail at AXA Investment Managers and was until recently a board director of the Investment Managers Association, chairing its working group on stress tests for UK authorised funds.
Evolution Securities
The investment bank has hired Colin Phillips as managing director from the former Dresdner Kleinwort securities business, just weeks after it hired a team of 45 from the firm to expand its institutional equities division.
The bank has also appointed James Wheatcroft as head of small and mid cap broking, after he joined the firm early last year to help identify specialist growth opportunities.
Prior to that, he was a top-rated institutional leisure analyst at Investec Securities and Panmure Gordon and a director of corporate finance at Investec Investment Banking.
JOHCM
Andy Steel has been appointed chief executive of JO Hambro Capital Management’s private client business, which will in time acquire its own separate branding.
Steel, who has over 15 years of experience in the sector, joins from JO Hambro Investment, where he was chief executive.
Threadneedle
The investment firm has appointed Agnès Belaisch as an emerging markets strategists, to strengthen its emerging market debt team.
Belaisch formerly spent 10 years as a senior economist at the International Monetary Fund, where she was responsible for monitoring emerging market economies and advising governments across Latin America and Asia. She has also worked in the chief economist’s office at the European Investment Bank and the Central Bank of Chile.
Berwin Leighton Paisner
The law firm has hired industry specialist and international arbitration expert Nic Fletcher as head of international arbitration.
Fletcher spent the past 23 years at Clifford Chance and has particular experience in corporate investment disputes, financing disputes and engineering and construction matters.
Hawkins Haile
Emma Hawkins-Haile has set up a new financial executive search firm covering senior asset management, board, risk management and trading positions.
Prior to this, she set up the risk practice at New Millennium Group and held positions as a director in investment banking at CTPartners and a markets consultant at Heidrick and Struggles.
