HSBC
The bank has appointed Chris Barrow as global head of sales for its recently-launched HSBC Prime Services business, targeted at hedge funds and institutional fund managers across Europe and Asia.
Barrow joins from Nomura, where he was international head of sales for prime services, and has also worked as head of sales and marketing for global equity finance at HSBC between 2004 and 2007.
Evolution Securities
The bank, which last week saw its chief executive Andrew Umbers step down in a shock departure, has appointed a new director of equity sales.
Katie Freeman joins from the equity sales team at Citigroup Global Markets, where she worked between 1999 and 2007 before leaving to raise a family.
Prior to that, she also spent seven years at Goldman Sachs.
Partners Capital
The private investment office has appointed Ethan Hall as its new director of research and Sean Farrell as an investment principal.
Hall was previously head of investment research at Centaur Financial Services, the $100m (£63.7m) fund management firm he founded in 1995, managing portfolios for high net worth individuals and institutions.
Farrell joins from 3i Quoted Private Equity and has also worked as a director at private equity firm
TDR Capital.
Torus
The insurance firm has hired Tim Fillingham as UK chief operating officer, based in London.
Fillingham was previously chief marketing officer at the group and will retain responsibility for marketing and corporate communications in his new role. Prior to joining Torus in 2008, he was chairman of broker Aon Natural Resources.
Lovefilm
The film delivery firm has appointed Rick Medlock, chief financial officer of FTSE 100 mobile satellite communications company Inmarsat, as a new non-executive director.
Medlock is also a non-executive at price comparison website Cheapflights, and has previously held CFO positions of NDS Group and a number of private equity-backed technology firms.
DLA Piper
Jo Rickards has joined the law firm’s corporate crime team in London.
Rickards, one of the leading lawyers in her field, joins from white collar crime boutique Peters and Peters, where she has worked since 1986 and became a partner in 1992.
Her previous high-profile case include successfully defending former Wickes finance director Trefor Llewellyn in a high-profile fraud case brought by the SFO.
RSM Tenon
The professional services group has appointed Pete Hackleton from Deloitte as an associate director in the entertainment, media and sports team.
