CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Marsh
The global insurance broking and risk management firm, a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has announced the appointment of Edwin Charnaud as chairman of its global infrastructure practice. Reporting to chairman, global industries Jim Pierce, he will continue to be based in London. Charnaud will retain his current responsibilities as leader of Marsh’s private equity and mergers and acquisitions practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will also continue in his position as a non-executive director on the board of Kessler & Co in Switzerland.
Barclays
The bank has named John Langley and Joe McGrath as its new co-heads of its global finance and risk solutions business. The pair will report to the bank’s head of global investment banking, Skip McGee, and will join the investment banking division’s executive committee. They succeed Larry Wieseneck, who was appointed chief strategy officer. McGrath was previously head of leveraged finance at the bank and Langley has been head of risk solutions at Barclays since early 2011.
SJ Berwin
Lucinda Riches has been appointed non-executive director of the law firm. A former senior banker and business leader, Riches spent twenty-one years at UBS Investment Bank and its predecessor firms, including SG Warburg. As a member of the board at UBS Investment Bank, and as managing director and global head of equity capital markets, Riches led the expansion of the firm’s equity capital markets business into the US and Asia. Riches is currently also non-executive director of UK Financial Investments, of the Diverse Income Trust, and of Graphite Enterprise Trust. In addition, she is an adviser to the board of the British Standards Institution.
Pinsent Masons
The law firm is expanding its banking and restructuring practice with the appointment of Edward Sunderland as a banking partner. Sunderland joins from Wragge & Co, and has over ten years experience in practice, both in the UK and Hong Kong. His particular focus is asset based lending and capital markets.
Macfarlane Group
The UK packaging company has announced that Graham Bissett will become its new chairman, when Archie Hunter steps down on 8 May. Bissett has served as a non-executive director of Macfarlane since 2004 and currently chairs the audit committee. He was previously a partner with Arthur Andersen. Hunter has been a member of the board since 1998 and chairman since 2004.
