The mobile telecoms giant has appointed Martin Harriman as the new head of its business development division. Harriman is joining from LightSquared, where he has been executive vice president since 2009. He has held senior positions at Ericsson in Sweden, and was chief commercial director and a founding member of Augere. Harrison will replace outgoing new business director Tim Sefton, who is leaving to set up a consultancy service that will include O2 among its first clients.
Speechly Bircham
The City law firm has hired Kevin Forsyth as a partner in its construction & engineering group. Kevin joins Speechlys from Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, where he had been a partner since 2007.
He will be based in the firm’s New Street Square offices and has particular experience in projects and dispute resolution across UK and international construction sectors.
TUI Travel
The German travel group has appointed Mittu Sridhara to the role of chief information officer, replacing outgoing incumbent Jim Mann, who is retiring after 12 years at the firm. Sridhara joins TUI Travel from Ladbrokes, where he was group chief information officer. On joining the company he will also become a member of TUI Travel’s group management board, and develop common technology platforms across the business.
Jupiter Asset Management
Evelyn Lederle has been appointed to head up the asset management company’s new Zurich office, extending the firm’s coverage of the Swiss markets. Lederle will be senior sales manager for Switzerland, and will report to European sales director Martina Guenzl in Munich. Lederle was previously responsible for the key asset management accounts at Clariden Leu AG and has over 10 years’ experience in international financial services, having worked at DZ Privatbank and Robeco AG.
MAPFRE
Antonio Huertas has taken on the chairmanship of Spain’s largest insurer following its AGM. Huertas takes over from José Manuel Martínez, who has been chairman of MAPFRE since 2001 having spent his entire professional career in the group. Huertas studied law at the University of Salamanca. He has spent his entire professional career at MAPFRE, where he has held various senior executive positions since 1994, including third vice-chairman and trustee of the Fundacion MAPFRE. He was first appointed to the company’s board in 2006.
