Aberdeen Asset Management
Peter Elston, an Asian investment strategist based in Singapore, has been promoted to the newly created role of head of Asia Pacific strategy and asset allocation. Elston has been a member of the global strategy team and the Asia Pacific multi-asset fund tactical asset allocation team since 2009. He joined Aberdeen as a strategist, Asia, in April 2008, after starting his career in 1988 at Mercury Asset Management, where he managed Asian equity funds from Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Investec Capital Markets
Callum Macpherson has been hired to strengthen the bank’s hedging capabilities and investor product offering in its capital markets division. He joins Investec from Nomura, where he was responsible for establishing a commodity structuring function, a role he previously performed at Lehman Brothers.
HIG Capital
The private equity firm has appointed Henry Gregson as a managing director in the London office. Prior to joining HIG, Gregson was a partner at Pamplona Capital.
Jones Lang LaSalle
Colette Williamson will join Jones Lang LaSalle as a director in the firm’s West End lease advisory team. Williamson joins from DTZ, where she became a director in 2007.
Macquarie Capital
Mike Turner has been appointed as a senior managing director to lead the delivery of financing solutions for client transactions in EMEA. Turner was formerly the founding partner of 3i Group’s quoted private equity fund.
Gamma Finance
The service provider for transactions in illiquid assets has appointed Miroslaw Izienicki as chief operating officer. He was most recently managing director of Fifth Capital, the think tank and leadership counsel.
Thesis Asset Management
The fund manager has hired Anne Gilbert as a non-executive director. Gilbert founded Principal Investment Management in 1987, following 11 years in equities fund management at the Sun Alliance Group.
Horizonte Minerals
The Aim and TSX-listed explorer has appointed geologist Dr Owen Bavington as a non-executive director to replace Nicholas Winer. Since 2003, Bavington has been the group head of exploration and technology at Anglo American.
Lawrence Graham
The law firm has strengthened its finance practice by hiring three partners from Stephenson Harwood. John Fox, Matthew East and Simon Elphick will start in March.
