Gordon Dadds
Legal and professional services firm Gordon Dadds has appointed senior politician Lord Peter Hain as its global and government adviser. Hain will be helping Gordon Dadds and its clients expand their international connections, with particular focus on Africa and the Middle East. He will also advise the firm on governmental matters. Prior to joining the House of Lords in 2015, Hain spent 24 years as a member of parliament including 12 years as a government and senior cabinet minister, where he obtained a breadth of domestic policy experience in roles including secretary of state for work and pensions, energy minister and leader of the Commons. He famously negotiated an end to the Northern Ireland conflict and chaired meetings of the UN Security Council.
Peel Hunt
Peel Hunt, an independent corporate broking and advisory house, has appointed John Welch to the role of large cap sales. John joins from Deutsche Bank where he worked for eight years, initially in pan-European cash equity sales and then as co-head of EMEA coverage and european head of relationship management within their transaction banking division. John started his career at City-based stockbrokers Cazenove & Co where he spent five years in cash equity sales, both in London and New York and subsequently worked at Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and Dresdner Kleinwort.
White & Case
Global law firm White & Case has expanded its EMEA equity capital markets capabilities with the addition of Jonathan Parry as a new partner in London. Jonathan, who joins the firm's global capital markets practice, will advise both corporate clients and investment banks on a full range of international corporate finance transactions, with a particular focus on UK equity capital markets work. The law firm hopes Jonathan will help grow its UK IPO practice and, with the majority of equity capital market deals in the region governed by English law, further support the development of its English law markets practice. He joins White & Case from Ashurst, where he was a partner, and brings nearly 16 years of experience.
Westrock
Westrock, a developer and operator of private rented homes, has appointed Candy & Candy’s former property director Stewart Knight as its new acquisitions chief. Stewart Knight has moved to Westrock, where he will spearhead the acquisition programme for Platform, its build-to-rent vehicle. Stewart has worked on projects in the UK and abroad, including the Candy brothers' prime central London landmark, One Hyde Park. During 11 years at BNP Paribas, where he was head of city development and investment, Stewart acquired a wide range of commercial and residential developments and helped finance a number of pre-let schemes.
