Plus500, an online service provider for retail customers to trade CFDs internationally, has appointed Penelope Ruth Judd non-executive director of the company and a member of the board of directors. Penelope is a chartered accountant with over 30 years of City and financial services experience specialising in compliance, governance, regulation, corporate finance and audit. She is currently managing director and EMEA head of compliance at Nomura International, a position that she has held for the last three years and is due to step down from at the end of next month. Prior to this, she worked at UBS Investment Bank for nine years and held the position of managing director and EMEA head of compliance from 2007 until 2012.
Smith & Williamson
Russell Cook has joined Smith & Williamson as a director in the corporate finance team. Russell has over 30 years’ experience in the City having worked in a number of corporate finance teams, including Panmure Gordon, Charles Stanley Securities, Teather & Greenwood and Morgan Grenfell Securities. Russell has a broad range of transaction and sector experience, with a particular focus on smaller and mid cap companies in the technology, industrial and support service sectors. He has worked on numerous UK public takeovers, IPOs, secondary fundraisings and private placings during his career.
Hogan Lovells
Elliot Weston has been named a tax partner at law firm Hogan Lovells’ London corporate practice. Elliot joins the firm from Gowling WLG where he built up a successful practice focusing on real estate and funds. He has represented UK student accommodation company GCP Student Living in its admission to the London Stock Exchange. His broad practice covers mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, funds, capital raisings, corporate reorganisations and financing transactions. His funds expertise broadly includes acting for investors and fund managers on the formation, downstream investment and capital raising of private and listed funds, in the UK and internationally.
WHIRELAND
Financial services company WHIreland has promoted Roddy Buchanan to head of its wealth management division. The London-based company has also appointed Rupert Yeoward as deputy head of wealth management. The appointment of Roddy and Rupert is part of a continuing programme of significant change in the senior leadership at WHIreland. Roddy, who was previously deputy head of private clients, takes over from Richard Killingbeck, who will focus on his role as CEO of the WHIreland Group. Rupert, joining the company from a position as an independent wealth management consultant and having previously worked for Rathbone Investment Management and Deutsche Bank, will focus on WHIreland’s regional offering in the new role.
