Alpha FMC
Asset and wealth management consultant Alpha FMC has appointed Andrew Glessing as director and head of its new dedicated compliance practice which will initially comprise nine consultants. Andrew has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services and compliance consulting. He spent seven years as manager at the Financial Conduct Authority where he led teams supervising FSA/FCA-regulated asset and wealth managers, platforms, pension providers and outsourcing firms, as well as conducting numerous risk assessments and thematic reviews across these companies. Andrew joins Alpha from compliance consultancy firm the Consulting Consortium, where he was managing director of advisory services for three years.
Mercer
Mercer, a global consulting firm specialising in health, wealth and careers, has announced the appointment of Peter Kane as a principal in its Glasgow office. Peter will primarily support the growth of Mercer’s retirement business in Scotland and Northern Ireland, enhancing its UK-wide growth activities. Prior to joining Mercer, he was corporate relationships director at Standard Life, where he headed up a new business team that focuses on large UK employers. Earlier in his career, Peter worked at Hymans Robertson LLP as a partner and new business director.
Alvarez & Marsal
Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Phil Beckett as a managing director in its global forensic and dispute services practice, based in London. Phil brings more than 15 years’ experience in forensic technology engagements. He has led investigations into bribery & corruption, kickbacks, IP theft, fraud and cartel/anti-trust, as well as managing large-scale e-discovery projects. Prior to joining A&M, Phil was a partner at Proven Legal Technologies and a managing director at Navigant, where he led its European forensic technology practice for seven years.
Pinsent Masons
International law firm Pinsent Masons is bolstering its corporate team with the appointment of corporate partner and TMT specialist, Andrew McMillan to its advanced manufacturing and technology sector. Andrew joins from Simmons & Simmons where he led the TMT practice from 2012 to 2015, and was previously head of the communications practice at Ashurst. He has a wealth of experience in advising TMT corporates, investment banks and private equity houses on in-sector mergers and acquisitions and high-value commercial contracts.
