Bryan Cave
International law firm Bryan Cave has announced two new appointments to its London office. Corporate partner Sarah Atkinson joins the transactions client service group from Hogan Lovells. Associate Yannis Erifillidis joins the financial services client service group from Norton Rose Fulbright. Sarah’s experience concentrates on cross-border M&A, private equity and general corporate advisory work. She has been recognised by The Legal 500 UK for her M&A work, specifically relating to upper mid-market and premium deals. Yannis is a senior associate with experience in high-value, cross-border structured finance, debt capital markets and Islamic finance. He is also qualified in Greek law.
Bibby Line Group
Shipping operations firm Bibby Line Group has announced the appointment of Mark Lyons as chief financial officer (CFO) and main board executive director from 1 April 2016. Mark is currently CFO of NSG Group. Glass manufacturer NSG Group purchased Pilkington in 2006. He joined Pilkington in 1990 and has held a number of senior roles within finance and general management. He joined the main board of NSG Group in 2008 as head of the global architectural business and became CFO in 2011.
Unite
Patrick Dempsey is joining student accommodation provider Unite Group as non-executive director, with effect from 1 March 2016. From March 2004 until February 2015, Patrick was managing director of Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants. He also sat as an executive director on the board of Whitbread between January 2009 and February 2015. He has worked for more than 30 years in the hotel and restaurant business, and has held posts including chief executive of Macdonald Hotels, managing director of Forte Hotels UK and chief executive of Restaurant Associates, part of Compass Group. Patrick was also awarded an OBE in the 2012 Queen’s Honours list for his services to the hospitality industry.
Equity Development
Equity Development has announced that Mark Hughes has joined its team of equity research analysts. Mark, a small- and midcap analyst, previously worked for several years at Panmure Gordon, where he was managing director and co-head of research. Prior to this, he was head of the Liverpool office for Numis Securities, and also worked at Charterhouse and Tilney Investment Management.
MetricStream
Bert Clement has been appointed CFO of governance, risk, and compliance app provider MetricStream. Bert joins from Atrenta where he was CFO and chief operating officer. He began his career at Price Waterhouse as a financial adviser.
