LendInvest
Online lender for short-term property finance LendInvest has appointed Ruth Pearson as its first in-house legal counsel. Ruth joins LendInvest from Simmons & Simmons where she was a managing associate in the banking team. She joined Simmons & Simmons as a trainee in 2007 and qualified in 2009. During her eight years in private practice, Ruth advised a wide range of financial institutions and borrowers on various banking and real estate finance transactions. Ruth also spent nine months on secondment to the real estate restructuring team at Royal Bank of Scotland.
Colliers International
Global property advisers Colliers International has announced the continued expansion of its UK planning team with the appointment of associate director Adrian Walker and planner Leigh Thomas. Adrian joins from London Legacy Development Corporation, where he was planning manager responsible for large-scale applications at Hackney Wick and Chobham Manor, in Stratford. Leigh joins from Planning Potential where he advised a range of clients on developments across Central London.
Palatine Private Equity
Rupert Brown has been appointed investment manager at private equity firm Palatine. Rupert joins from NBGI Private Equity, where he spent over four years in the UK investment team working on a number of acquisitions, including ATR Group and Horizon Care, and held several board positions. Rupert, who is a qualified chartered accountant, started his career at PwC, where he worked on a variety of private equity transactions and financial restructurings. He will work alongside Palatine partner Tony Dickin and investment director Andy Strickland in the London office. Last summer, Palatine announced the closing of its third fund at a total of £220m and they have recruited Rupert to assist in the investment of the fund.
Squire Patton Boggs
Squire Patton Boggs has announced the appointment of litigation partner Chris Webber, who has joined the firm from Berwin Leighton Paisner. Chris’ practice focuses on banking litigation, and he has developed particular expertise in disputes involving structured finance and derivatives, financial products mis-selling, financial insolvency, and complex financial regulatory issues. He acts for financial services clients including investment and retail banks, broker dealers, corporate trustees, special servicers, investment funds and regulatory bodies, as well as corporate clients and individuals. Chris has also spent time on secondment at Royal Bank of Scotland’s group litigation team.
