Norton Rose Fulbright
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is to launch a legal operations consulting practice led by Stephanie Hamon, formerly of Barclays. The practice will launch in August and will provide management and operational advice to in-house legal teams at major financial institutions and corporations. Stephanie, who was previously managing director and head of external engagement, legal, at Barclays will drive the development of the new arm. She has extensive experience of setting and delivering commercial management strategies for in-house legal departments.
BDO
Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has grown its advisory expertise with the appointment of two new partners. Nick Andrews joins BDO’s London forensics team, based in the firm’s head office in Baker Street. He will focus on developing BDO’s M&A disputes offering, which includes acting as an expert determiner and advisor or expert witness in various disputes. He joins from Grant Thornton. Rob McCann has become a corporate finance partner in the firm’s Manchester office, joining from Lloyds Bank. Rob will work with the M&A team across the north, leading the team in Manchester and building on his experience in the local and national private-equity market to help businesses achieve their strategic investment and exit ambitions. This month marks six-months since BDO announced its merger with Moore Stephens was complete.
Historic Royal Palaces
Historic Royal Palaces has appointed Robert Swannell CBE as a trustee of the charity following his selection as chairman of its campaign board, succeeding Bruce Carnegie-Brown in this important fundraising role. Robert will serve an initial three-year term from 18 September. Historic Royal Palaces cares for six royal sites across London and Northern Ireland, including the Tower of London, Kensington Palace and Hillsborough Castle. As chairman of the campaign board, Robert will lead Historic Royal Palaces’ next fundraising campaign, galvanising supporters around the charity’s conservation and capital projects. Robert is chairman of UK Government Investments. He was previously chairman of Marks & Spencer (2010-2017), senior independent director of British Land (1999-2010) of 3i (2006-2010) and chairman of HMV (2009-2011). Until 2010, Robert spent a career of more than 30 years in investment banking with Schroders and Citigroup. Bruce is stepping down after six years, having completed a five-year fundraising campaign that raised £37m.
