Specialist Lloyd’s underwriter Marketform has announced that Darren Lednor, formerly the active underwriter of Ariel Syndicate 1910 and 6117, has joined as chief underwriting officer. Darren has been working in the insurance industry for 20 years across both the London and Bermuda markets and his experience encompasses underwriting, broking, risk and actuarial.Darren began his insurance career in 1995 in the actuarial team at Sphere Drake before joining the London branch of Assicurazioni Generali and then spent eight years with broker Benfield in both London and Bermuda.
Arma Partners
Communications, media and technology-focused M&A advisory firm Arma Partners has appointed Simon Carmichael as a partner. Simon will work alongside Eric Lawson-Smith and the team, who have built Arma’s presence in this sector over the past seven years. He will be based in Arma’s London office and begins his role immediately. Simon has nearly 20 years of investment banking experience, with a strong focus on advising high-growth consumer internet businesses on both M&A and capital raisings. Prior to joining Arma Partners, Simon was a managing director at Torch Partners, where for more than seven years he advised many of Europe’s leading venture-backed internet companies, including Just Eat, Secret Escapes, notonthehighstreet.com, DaWanda, Mendeley, Unruly Media and Blippar, on strategic M&A and financings. Simon started his career at Hambrecht & Quist and later was a member of the CSFB Technology Group.
Taylor Wessing
Angus Miln has joined international law firm Taylor Wessing as a lateral partner in its corporate technology team. Angus joins the firm from Bird & Bird, where he founded and led their Venture Capital practice. Prior to this, Angus was at the London office of US firm Latham & Watkins.
ClearlySo
ClearlySo, a UK-based impact investment intermediary, has announced that Matthew Vickerstaff has been hired as head of investment banking. Matthew will assume overall responsibility for ClearlySo’s established investment banking and capital raising activities, including equity and debt placement and corporate finance advisory business. Matthew joins ClearlySo after a successful career at Societe Generale where he was responsible for managing the global structured finance teams including infrastructure, real estate, aircraft, shipping sectors, and export finance. Before his 17-year career at Societe Generale – in Toronto, New York, Paris and London – he began his career at Hambros Bank.
