City Moves for 8 August 2016 | Who’s switching jobs
Currencies Direct
Currencies Direct, a UK non-bank provider of foreign exchange and international payment services, has appointed Antony Jenkins, formerly CEO of Barclays, as the company's non-executive chairman. He will focus on further advancing Currencies Direct’s digital offering and expanding its existing international footprint, supporting the company’s strong growth potential. For three years, until July 2015, Antony led Barclays as CEO. Prior to that role, he was the head of the bank’s UK retail and small business division, and Barclaycard. Antony also spent 17 years at Citi where he ran the North American cash management unit, managed the company’s internet activities and was in charge of the Citi branded credit card business.

He brings with him practical knowledge of risk management and regulatory requirements in the London market, having been at Lloyd’s since 2004. During his time at Lloyd’s Olly played a pivotal role in overseeing the market and delivering Lloyd’s own risk framework as well as being a key figure in Lloyd’s achieving solvency II model approval. Marc joins A&O from Simmons & Simmons where he was a partner and head of the IP group. Marc’s experience working with clients in the pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical devices and hi-tech industries – the sectors where the next generation of patent battles will be fought – will addstrength to the existing team. Marc will be joining the team at a key time for the IP industry. The uncertainty created by Brexit will add to the complexity of patent litigation through the multiplicity of parallel proceedings, including in the UK as a key jurisdiction.
