Opus
Opus Global, the provider of SaaS-based compliance solutions, has appointed Emanuele “Manny” Conti as chief executive officer. Emanuele brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the risk management and data analytics industries, with a proven track record of building global growth-oriented businesses. He was most recently CEO of Kroll and before that, president of the North America and international divisions of Dun & Bradstreet. Opus was co-founded by GTCR, a leading Chicago-based private equity firm and Doug Bergeron, former CEO of VeriFone, who will now serve as executive chairman.
Scipion Capital
Scipion Capital, a commodity trade finance investment manager, has appointed Paul Baker as head of trade finance to oversee all of the company’s trade functions. In this newly created role, Paul will report to the firm’s chief investment officer Nicolas Clavel. Paul brings to Scipion 30 years’ experience and a distinguished track record in identifying, structuring and closing trade finance facilities. He is well known and highly regarded across the entire trade finance landscape, having worked at major international banks throughout his career. Before joining Scipion, he spent eight years at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe where he was an assistant general manager in the firm’s structured trade and commodity finance department. Prior to this, Paul was director for metals and mining in the commodity finance department at West LB. He has also worked at Citi Bank, UFJ Bank, UBS, ING Bank and Banque Paribas among others.
Centtrip
Centtrip has appointed Mark Hipperson as chief technology officer and executive board director. Mark leads technology and digital strategy and also product build at Centtrip, an established high-growth fintech firm that offers consumers and businesses a unique proposition in buying and selling currency and making international payments. Mark’s appointment follows 12 months as a non-executive director at Centtrip. In his new role, Mark heads a 10-strong technology team, reporting to founders Tony North and Brian Jamieson.
M&G INVESTMENTS
M&G Investments has appointed Nas Islam as head of investment risk. Nas, reporting to Michelle Scrimgeour, M&G’s chief risk officer, will be responsible for the overall management of the investment oversight process at M&G. Nas joins from Henderson Global Investors, where he was head of investment oversight. Prior to Henderson, he held analyst, risk and performance roles at Morley Fund Management, now known as Aviva Investors.
