Valad Europe
Valad Europe, part of Cromwell Property Group, a global real estate investment manager, has hired Robin Macpherson as head of risk, Europe. Reporting directly to David Kirkby, CEO, Europe, Robin will be responsible for all aspects of risk management affecting the European business. The role will include leading and overseeing legal and compliance issues and ensuring that standards of good corporate governance are in place and maintained. He joins from RBS where he was head of legal with responsibility for large corporate and sectors, UK & western Europe, structured finance and product. Prior to this he was a solicitor at Travers Smith in London. Robin has degree in law from the University of Birmingham.

British Land’s former residential head Jean-Marc Vandevivere has been appointed chief executive of private rented housing operator Platform. Jean-Marc spent five years leading the residential arm of Britain’s biggest property company delivering more than £800m worth of projects across London. He initially joined the executive committee of British Land as head of strategy, developing and implementing a new corporate and investment strategy across all sectors of activities. His move follows a string of senior hires at the company, creating a fully integrated 20-strong team covering acquisition, development, asset management and operations with the capability to deliver in excess of 5,000 units within five years.
Low & Bonar
Low & Bonar, the international performance materials group, has appointed Mike Powell as a non-executive director with effect from 1 December 2016. Like all of the company’s non-executive directors, he will be a member of each of the audit, nomination and remuneration committe. Mike is group finance director of BBA Aviation, a provider of global aviation support and after-market services. From 2011 to 2014 he was chief financial officer of AZ Electronic Materials, a FTSE 250 company with international reach. Prior to this Mike was group finance director of Nippon Sheet Glass , having previously spent 15 years at Pilkington in a variety of senior finance roles.
Ridgeway Partners
Ridgeway Partners, the international executive search firm, has appointed Adam Turner as a partner. He previously worked as managing partner of Norman Broadbent. Adam has lived and worked across four continents and completed senior level searches for more than two decades. He began his career by focusing on the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sectors. He later expanded his practice to include UK private equity as well as board recruitment. At Ridgeway Partners, Adam will focus on private equity and board, TMT, fin tech/payments and CIO and CDO functions.
