SETL
SETL, the London based financial blockchain specialist, has appointed national security expert Martin Clements to its board. SETL was launched in July 2015 to deploy a multi-asset, multi-currency institutional payment and settlements infrastructure based on blockchain technology. Martin joins the SETL board having recently retired from his role as director general responsible for technology and transformation at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This followed a career focused on national security issues and capabilities, serving in the Middle East, South Asia and Europe. For the last decade, Martin was senior information risk owner, in charge of managing technical risk and other vulnerabilities to strategic information systems in the most testing of circumstances. He has extensive experience in transforming of some of the UK's most sensitive technical systems and securing them against cyber and insider threats.
KPMG
KPMG has appointed Marco Schwartz as head of equity capital markets in the UK. Marco will be based in London, reporting jointly to Sanjay Thakkar, head of deal advisory UK and Ralf Nachtigall, head of equity capital markets EMA (Europe, Middle East, Africa and India region). Marco joins KPMG from Barclays, where he was a managing director in equity capital markets for many years. Prior to his role with Barclays, he worked at Deutsche Bank. Over his career, he has held numerous ECM leadership roles in the UK, Central Eastern Europe Middle East & Africa and Asian region.
Legal & General Investment Management
Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has appointed Aaron Meder as CEO of Legal & General Investment Management America and Anton Eser as chief investment officer. Aaron will transition into the role over the next few months and will be based in Chicago. Aaron first joined LGIMA in 2010 and played a pivotal role in the successful expansion of the US business. He moved to LGIM’s London office in 2013 and became head of investment in 2015, responsible for LGIM’s investment, trading and product teams. Anton, currently co-head of LGIM’s global fixed income business, will succeed Aaron when he takes up his new role in Chicago. Anton joined LGIM in 2006, and has been integral to building its fixed income offering with a team of over 70 investment professionals and £126bn in assets.
Alvarez & Marsal
Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has appointed David Lawton as a managing director and co-head of its UK regulatory advisory practice, based in London. David joins from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) where he was director of the markets policy and international division. David will join Paul Sharma, co-head of A&M’s UK regulatory advisory practice and former deputy head of the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA), Jeremy Heales, a managing director in the same practice and former head of retail banks at the FCA, and Cyrus Ardalan, a senior adviser and chairman of A&M’s financial industry advisory services advisory board and former vice chairman of Barclays.
