INSTITUTE OF DIRECTORS
Ken Olisa OBE, founder of technology merchant bank Restoration Partners and Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, has been appointed deputy chairman of the Institute of Directors. Ken will work alongside the chairman, Lady Barbara Judge and the incoming director general, Stephen Martin, in setting the IoD’s strategy. Ken's technology career spans over 30 years, beginning at IBM. In 1992, after 12 years as a senior executive at Wang Labs in the US and Europe, he founded Interregnum, a technology merchant bank. He is currently chairman of Restoration Partners, an independent, boutique technology merchant bank.
WHIRELAND
WHIreland has appointed Marc Cane as group head of compliance and risk. Marc joins WHIreland from Ingenious Media, where he held the role of group compliance officer and MLRO. He brings with him a wealth of experience having also held senior compliance roles at a number of significant financial institutions, including Permal Investment Management and JP Morgan Chase. In his new role, Marc will report directly to CEO Richard Killingbeck overseeing both the wealth management and corporate divisions of the company. He will also take responsibility for liaising with regulatory bodies, analysing developments in regulation and ensuring their implementation as well as identifying and managing risks across the group.
CMS
International law firm CMS has appointed David Pygott as counsel to the firm’s financial services and products team in London. David joins CMS from Allen & Overy, where he was a senior associate in the banking, finance and regulatory litigation group. David is an experienced financial services litigator, with specialist knowledge in regulatory investigations and contentious financial services work. His practice includes defending banks and other financial institutions in cross-border regulatory investigations, including investigations into many of the most high profile industry issues in recent years, such as the alleged manipulation of benchmarks.
The Consulting Consortium
The Consulting Consortium (TCC) has appointed Matt Hodey as director of strategy and markets, where he will be responsible for driving an unrivalled client experience and ensuring that TCC continues to meet the evolving needs of its clients. Matt joins TCC from Deloitte where he was director of the company’s UK risk and regulation practice. He has over 17 years of industry experience in financial services risk and regulation, including previous roles at Barclays and Nationwide. The firm has also appointed Andy Sutherland as managing director of advisory services. He joins from Huntswood, where he was director of regulatory consulting. Prior to this he spent four years working within the Regulatory Advisory practice at EY.
