City dwellers lead the move to online shopping
LONDONERS are increasingly turning to online shopping even though they have major shops on their doorsteps, a survey by PayPal has revealed.
A total of 45 per cent of shoppers from the capital said they had increased their web shopping in the last year.
And across Britain City dwellers are more likely to surf for bargains than other groups, the research from the e-commerce pay system showed.
Glasgow topped the list of web shopping cities with 59 per cent of those asked saying they had gone online for goods this year more than they had done in the past.
The figure for Manchester was 50 per cent, while Bristol was 45 per cent.
Managing director at Paypal Carl Scheible said: “Almost half of adults living in busy centres now shop online more than a year ago. We love the convenience of having our shopping brought to our door.”
