City A.M. introduces third annual awards
City A.M. is today launching its third annual awards with news that the luxury car brand Lexus has signed a two-year headline sponsorship deal.
The annual awards ceremony, which celebrates those who have helped put the City of London at the centre of the world’s financial markets, will take place on 17 October at the Grange Hotel near St Paul’s.
The event has already become a much anticipated and much enjoyed occasion in the City calendar, where senior decision-makers from all parts of the financial industry look forward to meeting and sharing as the winners are unveiled.
“I’m delighted to be launching our third annual awards,” said City A.M. editor Allister Heath.
“I think most people agree that in a very short space of time we have established a much loved event that is already one of the highlights of the City calendar.
“I am very pleased on this occasion to welcome Lexus on board for what I am sure will be a fruitful relationship.”
The inaugural awards will always be remembered for a rousing speech from the Olympics organiser Lord Sebastian Coe, while former CBI director general Lord Digby Jones gave a thought-provoking talk at last year’s event.
In the coming weeks we will be launching the entry process for those of you who want to apply for the awards or nominate someone else.
All applications will be considered by the editorial team, who then select a short-list that will be published in the newspaper.
The final decision is taken by a panel of judges (see below right), who will meet ahead of the ceremony to choose this year’s winners.
Investment manager Brewin Dolphin, which is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, has signed up to sponsor the champagne reception at the event itself. Lexus is sponsoring the Personality of the Year category as well as a new award, Innovation in Business.
The judges will be looking to give the new award to a person or company that has shown innovation either in the products they are developing, the way they are financing them or the way the products are marketed.
Paul Marshall, general manager of marketing and strategy at Lexus, said that he saw the association with the awards as “an excellent opportunity for Lexus to associate itself with the best individuals and companies in the City”.
There will be awards in 15 categories up for grabs, and shortly we will open up the entries procedure so that, whoever you are in the City, you will be able to apply for one of the awards or nominate somebody else.
