    FOOTBALL: Liverpool striker Fernando Torres smashed a hat-trick in the opening 17 minutes to help Spain to a crushing 5-0 victory over New Zealand in their opening Confederations Cup match. Cesc Fabregas and David Villa completed the rout. Hosts South Africa played out a disappointing 0-0 draw with Iraq in the tournmament’s opener.
