Captain Gerrard and Walker out of Chile match
ENGLAND boss Roy Hodgson is set to name an experimental line-up for tomorrow’s friendly against Chile after captain Steven Gerrard and right-back Kyle Walker were ruled out by injury.
Striker Daniel Sturridge is also a doubt, while fellow forward Danny Welbeck and midfielder Michael Carrick were withdrawn earlier in the week.
It increases the likelihood of Hodgson handing debuts to Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez and playmaker Adam Lallana against Chile, while Everton’s Ross Barkley could be in line for a first start.
Liverpool skipper Gerrard, who has a hip problem, and Tottenham’s Walker trained in the gym yesterday but could be available for Tuesday’s visit of Germany. Liverpool’s Sturridge, who has a foot injury, is being monitored by doctors.
