Capita extends contract with the Pension Regulator to 2021

Support services giant Capita was today awarded a contract extension from the Pensions Regulator in a deal worth a further £37m over three years.

The agreement will see Capita continue to work with smaller businesses, ensuring the implementation of the automatic enrolment of workplace pensions.

Lesley Titcomb, chief executive of the Pensions Regulator, said: “The continuation of our partnership with Capita will ensure stability and consistency, taking us to the point where all existing employers will have undergone automatic enrolment.”

Under the extended terms, Capita will control communications to those employers that have undergone auto-enrolment as well as those yet to fully implement it. The company will continue to administer some “non-complex” enforcement correspondence on behalf of the Pensions Regulator. This includes issuing non-compliance and fixed penalty notices.

The Pensions Regulator originally awarded the contract to Capita in 2011 for seven years and this extension will take the total value of the contract to £142m.
