Capello not in a hurry to reveal new English coach
FABIO CAPELLO is to be given an extra helping hand in his attempts to turn around England’s fortunes.
The fall-out from the Three Lions’ poor World Cup campaign has forced Capello into adding a third English coach to work alongside Stuart Pearce and Ray Clemence.
The new man will be in place before the start of the Euro 2012 qualifiers, which get underway with a home game against Bulgaria at Wembley, on 3 September.
Capello is due to meet the FA’s director of development Sir Trevor Brooking next month to discuss the appointment with a number of young coaches being touted.
But the Italian is in no rush to bring his new man on board and is yet to put forward names of any potential candidates. “Fabio volunteered he wanted another English coach to join his set-up when we met him last week,” said Club England managing director Adrian Bevington.
“We were pleased to hear this as we want to introduce a wider pool of English coaches moving forward.
“Fabio was clear he didn’t want us to offer names immediately, stressing he wanted more time to consider who it should be, then discuss it in more detail with Sir Trevor Brooking during the first week of August.
“Therefore, any speculation as to who it might be cannot be made with any real conviction. Fabio hasn’t offered his preference, we haven’t said ours and no one has been approached.”
