Cable warning over UK economy
BUSINESS secretary Vince Cable will warn of the dangers of complacency as the economic recovery continues in a speech today to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).
“The kind of growth we want won’t simply emerge of its own volition. I see a number of dangers. One is complacency, generated by a few quarters of good economic data.”
Shadow business secretary Chuka Umunna said Cable’s comments are a slapdown to George Osborne’s speech on Monday. “Cable has supported the chancellor’s policies which choked off the recovery in 2010,” Umunna added.
