Brook versus Khan can happen for the world welterweight title in 2012, insists Hearn
FIGHT promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted he is to attempt to deliver a domestic welterweight showdown between the undefeated Kell Brook and the former world champion Amir Khan.
Brook on Saturday stopped Argentina’s Hector Saldivia in the third round of an eliminator for a shot against IBF champion Devon Alexander and Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn believes that a significant fight with Khan should also be made.
“We could do a stadium fight in April, or we could go to the Manchester Evening News Arena,” said Hearn. “His next fight is against a lightweight who can’t punch [Carlos Molina],
“What is Amir Khan going to do? You’re talking about a fight which would be box office, that would fill a stadium and pay both fighters in excess of £2million. Where else is he going to get that kind of money?
“If we win the world title and then fight him, he’s not going to take 70-30. I know what his people are about.”
