British Airways plans to boost its London City Airport service
British Airways is planning to boost its investment at London City Airport with the launch of new transatlantic services.
The Flag-carrier introduced a 32-seat all-business service from the docklands airport to New York’s JFK just over a year ago.
But yesterday chief executive Willie Walsh said: “This route has exceeded our expectations. We are now looking at adding capacity – or adding new cities like Boston and Washington.” Walsh, who was speaking in Mumbai after the launch of the improved 777-300ER long-haul service to the Indian commercial capital, would not be drawn on when the increased service would start. However, sources close to BA said ordering the specially modified Airbus A318 planes would mean the plans could not be put into place before the end of next year.
