BrewDog to craft 130 new jobs as demand for its product soars
Speciality beer firm BrewDog yesterday announced its intention to create up to 130 new jobs as it seeks to capitalise on soaring demand for craft ales.
The Aberdeen-based brewer was founded in 2007 and has seen rapid expansion in recent years and now exports beers and ales to more than 50 countries.
The company, set up by James Watt and Martin Dickie as a response to a market dominated by generic brands, has utilised distinctive branding with names such as Punk IPA, Sink the Bismarck and Dead Pony. It has also produced ales at the extreme ends of the spectrum, with 32 per cent proof content Tactical Nuclear Penguin and the 0.5 per cent Nanny State.
BrewDog has been assisted in its expansion plans with a £1.5m Regional Selective Assistance grant from the Scottish government.
The company’s success has not gone unnoticed, with The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 recently naming BrewDog the UK’s fastest growing food and drink firm.
