Bradley dreams of Mayweather bout after overcoming Marquez
AMERICAN Timothy Bradley is expected to push for a shot at undefeated welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, after narrowly beating Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Mayweather is believed by many to be set for a clash with Britain’s Amir Khan early next year, but Bradley spoke before the split-decision victory over Marquez of his desire to face his compatriot.
“I would love to get a shot at Mayweather before he gets out the game,” Bradley said at the end of last week, on the condition that he beat Marquez.
The 30-year-old, who was awarded a points victory by two of Saturday’s judges while one disagreed, insisted he had done enough to win. “He couldn’t touch me. I gave him a boxing lesson,” Bradley said after the fight.
