Bosch plant faces closure with 900 job losses
THE Bosch car parts factory near Cardiff is expected to close with the loss of 900 jobs, the company has announced.
The plant is likely to shut at the end of an extended consultation period.
Bosch had been considering two options for the future of the factory since October – either scaling back with 300 job losses – or closing.
The division in charge of the plant, which makes alternators, has decided to recommend to the board that production should be phased out and the factory closed.
Stefan Asenkerschbaumer, president of the starter motors and generators division, said: “I deeply regret that we could not find a solution for the Cardiff plant.”
A final decision is expected to be made in the next few months.
