Blacks boosted by reduced loss
BLACKS Leisure’s losses are narrowing as it seeks to attract suitors for the business.
The retailer, which owns the Blacks and Millets brands, said the business was bouncing back after a tumultuous period. Like-for-like sales in its outdoor stores were down by six per cent, which it blamed on difficult trading conditions. But in the past two months, like-for-like sales have improved and are now down by only 3.5 per cent. It had reduced its operating losses from £8.7m to £7.1m in the first half of the year. The firm is courting suitors for the business.
