Blackburn hold talks of takeover
BLACKBURN ROVERS are the latest Premier League to hold talks over a possible takeover.
Chairman John Williams revealed yesterday the club are in discussions with a number of interested parties about taking charge at Ewood Park.
Rovers currently owned by the trustees of the late Jack Walker and has debts of around £20m, but Indian tycoon Ahasan Ali Syed has become the latest candidate to launch a formal approach to buy the club.
Syed, the head of Bahrain-Swiss based investment firm Western Gulf Advisory, is reported to have promised to clear Blackburn’s debt and invest £300m in a long-term plan to lift the club.
However the 36-year-old businessman is just one of many parties interested in buying Blackburn, according to Williams. “There have been interested parties for some time – discussions are ongoing,” he said.
Rovers have been approached by a number of consortiums over the last three years, including one fronted by ex- JJB Sports chief Chris Ronnie.
