BILL OF THE WEEK
SOMEONE must have been rubbing their hands with glee when this group of friends popped up at the Buddha Bar recently. For not only did the extravagant group splash out on copious amounts of sushi and a range of decadent main courses – including Wagyu beef with Thai butter sauce, sesame tuna and sea bass – but they also took a trip to the restaurant’s in-house jewellery shop and cleaned out the fine wine cellar.
After a couple of beers and cocktails, our group picked three bottles of Chateau Petrus 1996, two of Chateau Haut Brion, two of Sassicaia – and, as the pièce de résistance, an Imperial of Chateau Haut Brion 1995, equivalent to six litres or eight bottles of wine and bumping the bill up to an eye-popping £25,756.88. Phew.
