Bijoux – that is, tiny – flat in Mayfair rented in record time
YOU COULD probably just about swing a cat in a one-bedroom Mayfair flat that was yesterday let at record speed.
Boasting just 301 sq ft, the “bijoux” flat in Pollen Street, between Hanover Square and Regent Street, took just 40 minutes to let for up £1,560 per month.
The new tenant, an “executive in the hospitality industry”, also had to cough up a hefty £10,000 to secure the property as Mayfair agent E J Harris was bombarded with 200 email and phone inquiries in just 15 minutes after it went on the market.
Elizabeth Harris, the managing director of EJ Harris, said: “The speed of this deal and the battle to secure the tenancy is the clearest indicator yet to me how buoyant and hot London’s letting market is at present. The tenant has a highly successful career working in the hospitality industry in the West End and needed a home nearby, she was very firm about wanting to rent not buy.”
EJ Harris’ Angela Pappin-Cole told City A. M. the letting market had been “crazy busy” since the last part of 2014. “Lots of people have been referred to us from sales. We had another property like this one, and it too was let – but not quite as quickly.”
