BG hires new chief operating officer as Houston steps down
FTSE 100-listed oil and gas explorer BG Group yesterday said its chief operating officer (COO) and executive director Martin Houston will retire by the end of next year, after 30 years with the company.
Houston, who joined BG’s predecessor firm British Gas Corporation in 1983, has stepped down from the board and executive committee with immediate effect and will depart from the group entirely next year. He will be replaced in the COO role by Sami Iskander, executive vice president operations, with immediate effect.
“The board and I would like to sincerely thank Martin for his outstanding contribution to BG Group, and its predecessor companies, over the last 30 years,” said chairman Andrew Gould.
“He was one of the principal architects of the group’s liquefied natural gas and shipping business during the formative years.”
