Barratt’s plans for 135 homes in Battersea given the green light
BARRATT London has been granted planning permission to build 135 homes in Battersea, becoming the latest in a raft of schemes set to change the skyline on the south bank of the Thames.
The London arm of the UK’s biggest housebuilder Barratt Developments plans to build a 28-storey tower at 12-14 Lombard Road on the riverfront in Battersea.
The tower will have 135 one to three-bedroom apartments, of which 20 per cent will be affordable, the company said.
It is also committing £1.6m to improve local infrastructure.
Over half of the site will be taken up by a new public plaza leading to the planned Diamond Jubilee footbridge, which will link Battersea and Chelsea Harbour.
Barratt London’s Alastair Baird, said: “Lombard Wharf is one of the last remaining plots on the Thames and we are looking forward to regenerating this brownfield site.”
“Patel Taylor has honoured our vision for the site, which was to deliver exemplar architecture and an attractive new public realm that improves local connections as well as providing much-needed new homes for Wandsworth,” he added.
