Barclays enters top 20 biggest broker rankings
BARCLAYS jumped into the top 20 biggest stockbrokers by client numbers for the first time last quarter, new rankings out today show.
The bank’s roster of 43 clients put it in 20th spot on the list, which was headed by JP Cazenove with 218 clients. Second place was taken by Numis with 156 clients, with Panmure Gordon in third with 131 clients, according to Adviser Rankings.
Finncap managed to jump up the closely-watched list from eighth place to sixth after adding five new clients for the three months ending 8 May.
The group also did well on the financial advisory front, winning three new clients to take it up to third place overall, leapfrogging rival Numis.
The FTSE 100 list of top stockbrokers remained unchanged from last quarter, with the list descending from JP Morgan in first down through UBS in second then Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Barclays.
However there was a reshuffle further down the index with Jefferies Hoare Govett taking UBS’ place at number three for the biggest brokers for FTSE 250 clients after winning four new clients.
Elsewhere, KPMG topped the list of biggest auditors after adding 10 new clients, taking its haul to 394 companies. FTI Consulting remained the biggest PR firm after winning four new customers. It now looks after PR duties for 176 firms.
In the legal sector, Slaughter & May remained the biggest adviser with 119 firms, despite the loss of one firm.
