Bale fit and ready for Real debut
THE world’s most expensive footballer Gareth Bale is hopeful of making his long awaited Real Madrid debut tomorrow at Villarreal.
Real paid Tottenham £85.3m last month to take Bale to the Bernabeu and the Wales star finally linked up with his new team-mates this week following the international break.
The 24-year-old missed Spurs’s pre-season campaign in almost its entirety due to a foot injury.
But, having come through 31 minutes as a substitute unscathed in Wales 3-0 home defeat to Serbia on Tuesday, Bale believes he is ready for his La Liga bow.
“I’m feeling good, but obviously I’m a bit behind physically than everybody else but hopefully I can catch up as soon as possible,” he said.
“[Carlo] Ancelotti [Real manager] spoke to me, but we have to wait until the match day to see whether I’m picked or not, but hopefully I can get my fitness up straight away and get a place in the team.”
Bale’s partnership with former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been highly anticipated by the football world.
And the former Southampton player is looking forward to the link-up on the pitch having received a warm welcome off it.
“It was amazing. He’s a nice guy,” said Bale. “He made me feel welcome just like everyone else did. I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch and doing well.”
