BAE set to axe up to 1,350 jobs
DEFENCE group BAE Systems is poised to axe up to 1,350 jobs across the UK today.
The move, which follows the government’s October defence review and its decision to scrap the Nimrod and Harrier jets, will largely affect the company’s Woodford plant near Stockford, where the Nimrod was assembled.
Around 700 jobs are set to go there, with a further 650 cuts at other sites where work on Nimrods and Harriers is carried out.
