Arsenal’s pivotal week hit by injuries to Ramsey and Arteta
ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger admits he is sweating over a deepening injury crisis as his team prepare for a potentially pivotal week in which they face Galatasaray and Chelsea.
Wenger saw Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta limp off in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against neighbours Tottenham, while fellow midfielder Jack Wilshere also needed lengthy treatment after turning his ankle. Full-back Mathieu Debuchy and forwards Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are long-term absentees.
“Wilshere, I don’t know. The two others are out for Chelsea for sure,” he said. “Suddenly we are short. Abou Diaby is not ready so it starts to become a worry.”
Wednesday’s visit of Galatasaray has taken on greater significance after the Gunners lost their opening Champions League group game at Borussia Dortmund, while Chelsea humiliated Arsenal 6-0 in their last clash at Stamford Bridge in March. and currently sit top of the Premier League after five wins and a draw from their first six games.
