Arsenal poised to sign Draxler
ARSENAL were last night closing in on the signing of midfielder Julian Draxler from Schalke, after a club delegate flew to Germany to tie up the deal ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.
Draxler has a £37m buyout clause in his contract, though the Gunners are thought unwilling to meet it.
The 20-year-old, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, has scored four goals in 20 games for the German club this term.
Meanwhile, Newcastle completed the loan signing of striker Luuk de Jong until the end of the season yesterday, while midfielder Yohan Cabaye sealed a £19m switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool are keen on Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka who could cost up to £15m.
