Arsenal are still a long way from being champions, warns Laudrup
SWANSEA manager Michael Laudrup has insisted that Arsenal remain a long way from becoming a title-winning team, despite watching the Gunners overcome his side 2-1 on Saturday.
The win, courtesy of second-half goals from Serge Gnabry and Aaron Ramsey, gave Arsenal a two-point lead in the Premier League.
Yet Laudrup, who has also faced Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool so far this season, played down the north Londoners’ hopes.
“I don’t know if they are title contenders, there have been some surprise results this weekend,” the former Barcelona player said.
“Manchester United lost to West Brom and Manchester City have lost two games away to Aston Villa and Cardiff. So Arsenal are on top, but there are 32 games to play. But no one can take what you already have on the board away from you.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who joined the Gunners 17 years ago, reserved praise for his young goalscorers. He said: “Their combined age is 40 years old. [Gnabry] has the talent but the personality on the pitch as well. He doesn’t look timid, he looks to play with belief and of course talent.”
