App backed by Mike Lynch signs Warner Music and Capitol deal
MUSIC fans will be given the chance to win concert tickets and get access to video content through a new deal signed between major record label Warner Music and Capitol Records, and an app called Taggar – backed by former Autonomy chief executive Mike Lynch.
Taggar, which describes itself as ”the world’s first social augmented reality app”, recognises tags hidden in certain products – such as CD album covers – and unlocks content in the form of picture, video or competitions.
It also allows users to leave their own secret tags that only friends and followers can unlock.
London-based Taggar has already teamed up with US artist Jason Derulo to offer the chance to win tickets to his world tour by scanning the cover of his Tattoos album.
Sam Smith, Naughty Boy, Bastille and Emilie Sande have also all signed up to use the technology.
“Our vision is to create a world in which fans and artists can connect with one another through real-world digital tags,” said Taggar marketing director Charlotte Golunski.
