THE CITY’S budding footballers battled it out yesterday in KennedyPearce’s annual charity footie tournament down in Powerleague London City, Shoreditch. Close Brothers, Invesco, M&G Investments, CBRE and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group were among the teams joining KennedyPearce. The tournament was played World Cup-style but with losers in knock-out group stages entering their own championship. The final was played out between KennedyPearce and CBRE Investors, with the latter taking home the cup and donating a wad to to a Hunter’s Syndrome charity. “The organisers can’t win their own tournament anyway,” laughed KennedyPearce’s Adam Goulding. A mixed team of SFM Europe and FXCM beat Close Brothers in the sub-championship. Not a bad way to get ready for 12 June.

Abacus no more, its new name is…The Forge! As you might imagine from the name they’re going for an industrial look and from what our spies tell us they’re going big on food, with both a pit and a spit (two words you might have found synonymous with the previous incarnation, in a very different way). The venue already has its social media sorted with #forgedinlondon being peddled out ahead of the July re-opening. We’ll meet you at the bar…
