WE ALL know how much banks enjoy a glass or two of wine, but there aren’t many out there that can claim to have their own sommelier. Silicon Valley Bank’s Californian head office can though – his name is Raymond Nasr and he works with the bank and its wine clients. “We look after tech but we’re also the biggest bank to the Californian wine industry,” Gerald Brady of Silicon Valley Bank told The Capitalist. Sommelier Nasr will be travelling to the UK in April when SVB has its annual wine tasting but wine isn’t the only string to his bow. Nasr used to run communications at Google and wrote Eric Schmidt’s speeches. We’ll try and corner him in April to find out what Schmidt and co. drink at Googleplex.
