ANALYST VIEWS: WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF TULLOW’S PROFIT DIP AND DEAL NEWS?
TONY SHEPARD | CHARLES STANLEY
“It was expected to report lower profits this year which was not much of a surprise. I was expecting a bit more of a decline than that but not much more. But Tullow is not about last year’s results, it is about exploration. Results are not the key to Tullow even if its profits were much lower than they were. A lot hinges on what it is drilling.”
DAVID HART | WESTHOUSE SECURITIES
“I don’t think the profit can read across to the deal with Uganda. These results are overshadowed by the projects that are happening in Uganda and Ghana. The company clearly prioritised these drilling projects and as a result saw its profits decline. We’ll know more about Tullow’s Ugandan expectations in a few weeks time.”
